Lune vs Otio

Otio is built around the sources you already have: upload PDFs, chat across them, keep page-level citations, write in the same place. Lune starts earlier, at finding the work, and later, at checking the draft against it.

Start with the one you should not buy from us

If the first list is you, take Otio.

Choose Otio if

  • Your sources arrive as files and reading them in one place is the problem.
  • You want a choice of models in the same workspace and a good PDF reader.
  • You keep several projects apart with spaces and parallel chats.

Choose Lune if

  • You need to find the relevant papers, not only work through yours.
  • You want claims checked against published text, with quotes you can paste.
  • You want that inside the agent you already write in.

From a question to a citation

Otio

  1. Upload your files
  2. Chat across them
  3. Page-level citation

Lune

  1. Search top-tier venues
  2. Read the full text
  3. Quote with a locator
Otio works from the files you bring. Lune works from the published record, and your files too.

Where the difference comes from

Where the two overlap

Lune has a Workspace miniapp that indexes uploaded documents and answers over them with citations, so the overlap is real. If that is all you need, both do it, and Otio's reader is nicer.

The difference is what sits next to it. In Lune an uploaded document lives beside the full text of accepted papers, and the same agent moves between them in one turn.

Deep research over the web is not peer review

Otio's deep research works over the web, which is right for a general workspace and wrong for a citation you will defend. Web sources are ranked, not reviewed.

Lune's index holds only papers accepted at top-tier venues. Nothing else gets in, so nothing else comes out. A narrower promise, and one you can hand to a reviewer.
