# Lune vs WisPaper

WisPaper is an academic agent with its own interface: deep search, question answering, surveys and agent tasks, sold in tiers from free up to Max. Lune is the same kind of work delivered as tools your own agent calls.

Competitor site: https://wispaper.ai.

## Choose WisPaper if

- You want a finished agent product rather than tools to wire up.
- Surveys and long-running agent tasks are the shape of your work.
- Credit packs on top of a subscription suit uneven months.

## Choose Lune if

- You already have an agent and want to give it better evidence.
- You want to know exactly which venues are indexed before you rely on it.
- You need a quote and locator for each claim, not a finished report.

## From a question to a citation

WisPaper: Set an agent task -> Deep search and QA -> Report or survey.
Lune: Search top-tier venues -> Read the full text -> Quote with a locator.

A finished agent, or tools the agent you already trust can call.

## Line by line

| Dimension | Lune | WisPaper |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What you use | Tools your agent calls, plus a CLI and three miniapps. | The WisPaper agent and its web interface. |
| What is indexed | Top-tier venues, published as a browsable list. | Not stated on their site. |
| How deep a citation goes | A verbatim quote and its locator, per claim. | Cited output from deep search and QA. |
| Agent access | MCP and a CLI, on every plan. | No MCP server or public API listed on their site. |
| How it is priced | A daily request allowance, from free, plus credits. | Free through Max tiers, plus credit packs. |
| Methodology guidance | A corpus on peer review, ablations and venue choice. | Not offered. |

## Publish what you index

WisPaper does not say which sources it searches. That is common in this category and it is the thing we would push back on hardest, because a grounding tool that will not name its corpus is asking for trust it has not shown the basis for.

Lune lists every indexed venue on a public page, and the papers under each one. If a venue you care about is missing, you can see that before you sign up rather than after.

## A finished agent, or tools for yours

Buying a finished agent is a reasonable choice. It works out of the box, and somebody else tuned the prompts.

It also means a second agent, with its own memory of your project, sitting beside the one you already use. Lune takes the other route: the agent in your editor gains the tools, and your context stays in one place.
