# Lune vs DATA SWEEP

DATA SWEEP searches 250 million academic sources semantically and rates what comes back with a trust score. Lune covers far less ground and answers with the sentence instead of a rating.

## Choose DATA SWEEP if

- You want reach across PubMed, IEEE, Springer, Wiley and 30 more publishers.
- Your work spans biomedical and engineering literature.
- Nine euros a month for unlimited searching fits your budget.

## Choose Lune if

- You want the supporting sentence, not a score that says to trust one.
- You need the retrieval inside your agent, through MCP.
- You publish at conferences, where the full text is the point.

## From a question to a citation

DATA SWEEP: Search 250M sources -> Score the results -> Traced answer.
Lune: Search top-tier venues -> Read the full text -> Quote with a locator.

A score tells you how much to trust a source. A quote lets you decide.

## Line by line

| Dimension | Lune | DATA SWEEP |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What is indexed | Top-tier venues, most papers in full text. | 250M+ sources from PubMed, arXiv, IEEE, Wiley and more. |
| How a claim is backed | A verbatim quote and its locator, per claim. | A trust score on the sources behind the answer. |
| Agent access | MCP and a CLI, on every plan. | No MCP server or public API listed on their site. |
| Free tier | 10 requests a day, every tool. | 15 Pro searches and 5 Deep searches a month. |
| Entry price | $4.99 a month, or $47.90 a year. | 9 euros a month. |
| Methodology guidance | A corpus on peer review, ablations and venue choice. | Not offered. |

## A score is a judgment you cannot audit

DATA SWEEP's trust score is an honest attempt at the right problem, which is that a retrieval system should say something about how much weight a source carries.

The catch is that a score is the system's opinion, arrived at by a process you cannot see. If it is wrong, nothing about the output tells you. A quote fails differently: you read it, and either it supports the sentence or it does not.

## Coverage where it counts

Thirty-odd publishers is real breadth, and for biomedical or engineering work it reaches literature Lune has no plans to index. If that is your field, this is a genuine advantage and we will not argue it away.

Inside computer science the relationship flips. The venues that matter are conferences, Lune reads them in full, and the tools answer with the exact line rather than a ranked result.

## Questions

### Is Lune a DATA SWEEP alternative?

For conference-driven fields and agent access, yes. For biomedical and engineering breadth, DATA SWEEP indexes far more than Lune.

### Do both claim zero hallucinations?

Both aim at it differently. They score sources; Lune returns the quote and reports when it found no support.

### Does DATA SWEEP have an API?

None is listed on their site. It is used through the web interface.
