# Set up in five minutes

The fastest path from "no account" to "my AI assistant just cited a paper for me."

## 1. Create your account

Go to [luneresearch.com/signup](https://luneresearch.com/signup) and sign up
with email, Google, GitHub, X, Slack, LinkedIn, or Notion. If you choose email,
click the confirmation link we send you, then come back.

You're now on the **Free** plan: 10
requests a day, plus 300 welcome credits
for the days you need more. No card needed, and the credits never expire.

## 2. Pick how you'll connect Lune

The dashboard's **Install** page walks you through each app. Choose the AI app
you already use:

- **Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, OpenCode, Antigravity** (local
agents). Most install with one command or one click, with your access key
filled in. The optional command line app's `lune install` can also
configure Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, and OpenCode.
- **ChatGPT and Claude.** Open Lune's plugin or connector listing from the
Install page, add it, and sign in. Nothing to copy.
- **Grok and Grok Bot.** Add Lune as a custom connector by its server URL,
then sign in through your browser.
- **Perplexity, Manus, and Muse.** These start with an access key, and the
Install page shows where to paste it. Muse can switch to OAuth later.

[Connect Lune to your AI app](https://luneresearch.com/docs/mcp) covers every option, including the
server URL and OAuth details for any other app.

## 3. Try a question

Open a chat in your AI app and ask something only a research assistant could
answer well. For example:

> Find recent papers about cache-timing attacks on AES; cite the top three
> with links.

Behind the scenes, the agent searches Lune for relevant papers and brings their
abstracts, metadata, and links into the answer. It can read the full text when
it's available. Most tool calls count as one request; batch tools count one
per item, and once the daily allowance is used up, requests draw on credits.

## What's next

- [Teams & access keys](https://luneresearch.com/docs/concepts/orgs-and-keys): invite teammates, share
a paid plan, create a key for a new device.
- [Plans, requests & credits](https://luneresearch.com/docs/concepts/quotas-and-billing): when to
upgrade, how credits work, what happens at the daily limit.
- [Walkthroughs](https://luneresearch.com/docs/guides/literature-review): copy-paste prompts your
assistant can run as full research workflows.
