# Web AI apps

These apps add Lune as a connector: ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Perplexity, Manus,
Muse, Grok Bot, and any other app with a custom connector form. ChatGPT, Claude,
Grok, and Grok Bot sign you in to Lune through the browser, so there's nothing
to paste. Perplexity and Manus take an access key. Muse starts with an access
key and can switch to OAuth once the connector works.

If you use Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Hermes Agent, or another agent
configured with a command or a config file, follow
[Local AI agents](https://luneresearch.com/docs/mcp/stdio).

## Fill in a custom connector form

Most forms ask for three things:

| Field          | What to enter                                                        |
| -------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Name           | `Lune`                                                               |
| Server URL | `https://mcp.luneresearch.com` (some forms call it "MCP server URL") |
| Authentication | OAuth, or the form's default. Leave client ID and secret empty. |

Save the form. The app opens a Lune sign-in window. Sign in, check the
permissions it asks for, and click **Approve**.

If the form asks for an authorization URL or a token URL, copy them from
[Authorization server](https://luneresearch.com/docs/mcp#authorization-server). Lune has no client
secret. If the form needs a client ID before it connects, register one with the
registration endpoint, using the callback URL the form shows as the redirect
URI. [auth.md](https://luneresearch.com/auth.md) has the request.

## Use an access key instead

Use an access key when the app can't do OAuth, asks for an API key, or only
lets you set a header.

1. On the
   [Credentials page](https://luneresearch.com/dashboard/settings/credentials),
   open **API keys** and click **New key**. Copy the key now, because the
   dashboard shows it only once.
2. Put the key where the app asks for it. An **API key** field takes the key as
   it is. A header takes the name `Authorization` and the value
   `Bearer lune_your_access_key`, with your key after `Bearer`. A JSON config
   takes this shape:

   ```json
   {
     "mcpServers": {
       "lune": {
         "type": "http",
         "url": "https://mcp.luneresearch.com",
         "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer lune_your_access_key" }
       }
     }
   }
   ```

A key bills the team it was created in. It works until you revoke it, or until
an expiry date set when it was created.

## App notes

The [Install page](https://luneresearch.com/dashboard/install) has the full
steps for each app, with your access key filled in where the app needs one.

**ChatGPT.** Lune is in ChatGPT's plugin directory. Find it under **Plugins**
in the sidebar, add it, and sign in to Lune when ChatGPT asks. In a new chat,
type `@Lune` to call it directly.

**Claude.** Add Lune from Claude's **Connectors Directory** and approve the
sign-in. The same listing covers Claude on the web, desktop, and mobile.

**Grok.** Open [grok.com/connectors](https://grok.com/connectors), or click
**+** in the chat box and open **Connectors**. Click **Add connector**, and in
the **New Connector** dialog choose **Custom**. Enter the name `Lune` and the
server URL, click **Add Connector**, and approve the Lune sign-in.

**Grok Bot.** This is xAI's desktop agent app. Open **Marketplace** in the
sidebar, or **Settings** then **Plugins**, whichever your version shows, and
add a custom MCP server with the name `Lune` and the server URL. Approve the
Lune sign-in in your browser. If Grok Bot asks for a header instead, use an
access key. If there's no custom-server option, ask Grok Bot in a chat to add
a custom MCP server called Lune at `https://mcp.luneresearch.com`. In a task,
type `@Lune` to attach it.

**Muse.** Meta's agent builds the connector itself. In a chat, ask Muse to
create a custom connector for Lune from `https://luneresearch.com/docs/mcp`.
When it asks for a credential, paste an access key into the credential prompt
Muse opens, not into the chat. Muse keeps the key in its Secure Credentials
Store. Once the connector works, you can ask Muse to switch it to OAuth; the
Install page has the message to send.

**Perplexity.** Click **Customize** in the sidebar, or click **+** in the chat
box and then **Manage Connectors**. Click **+ Custom connector** in the
top-right corner and choose **Remote**. Fill in **Name**, a short
**Description**, and **MCP server URL**, and set **Transport** to Streamable
HTTP. Open **Advanced**, choose **API Key** under **Authentication**, and paste
an access key. Tick the box that says you understand the risks of custom
connectors, click **Add**, then click the Lune card under **Connectors** to
turn it on. Perplexity also asks for an icon; the Install page recipe has one
to download.

**Manus.** Open **Settings**, then **Connectors**, **+ Add Connectors**, and
**Custom MCP**. Choose **Import by JSON** and paste the JSON from the Install
page. It carries an access key.

**Other apps.** Add the server URL in the app's MCP or connector settings. If
the app supports OAuth, it asks you to sign in. If not, use an access key.

## Common questions

**Does the AI app see my password?**
No. You sign in on Lune's own page in your browser, and the app receives a
token for your account, never the password.

**Which team pays for the requests?**
A sign-in connection bills your personal team. An access key bills the team it
was created in. [Teams & access keys](https://luneresearch.com/docs/concepts/orgs-and-keys) explains
how to use a shared team's plan.

**Can I revoke an app's access?**
Yes, on the
[Credentials page](https://luneresearch.com/dashboard/settings/credentials).
With your personal team selected, the **OAuth clients** tab lists the apps you
connected by signing in. Revoking one stops it from renewing its sign-in; the
access token it already holds keeps working for up to an hour. A revoked access
key stops working within five minutes.

**What does Lune share with the app's maker?**
Only what the tool calls return: search results, paper text, citation lists,
and, when you run out of requests, the usage numbers in the error message. Lune
doesn't send your email address or payment details. The app's own privacy
policy covers what it does with those results.

## When something goes wrong

- If the sign-in window keeps spinning, the app is probably blocking pop-ups.
  Allow them for the app's site and try again.
- If the assistant connects but has no Lune tools, remove the connector and add
  it again. Some apps cache the tool list.
- If you lose access to the AI app's account, revoke its Lune connection on the
  Credentials page.
- Error codes and fixes are in [Troubleshooting](https://luneresearch.com/docs/troubleshooting).
