# Lune Research developer resources

This is the canonical index for adding Lune to an AI app. Install the Lune
connector or plugin in a web chatbot. Add the Lune MCP server to a local agent.
These are the supported integration paths.

Once connected, the agent can turn a plain-English research question into a
search across top-tier conference papers, with abstracts, metadata, citation
context, and full text when available. It can also retrieve curated guidance
for literature reviews, evaluation design, ablations, and venue selection.

## Web chatbots

- [Web AI app setup](https://luneresearch.com/docs/mcp/remote)
- [Lune Install page](https://luneresearch.com/dashboard/install)
- [MCP Registry server manifest](https://mcp.luneresearch.com/.well-known/mcp/server.json)

Install the listed Lune connector or plugin when the app has one. Otherwise,
add `https://mcp.luneresearch.com` as a custom connector. ChatGPT, Claude, Grok,
and other compatible apps discover OAuth and ask the user to sign in.

## Local agents

- [Desktop and local agent setup](https://luneresearch.com/docs/mcp/stdio)
- Hosted MCP endpoint: `https://mcp.luneresearch.com`
- [Published stdio MCP server on npm](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@retrograde-labs/lune-mcp-server)
- [Official MCP Registry entry](https://registry.modelcontextprotocol.io/v0.1/servers?search=com.luneresearch/lune)

Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and other MCP clients can use the hosted
server or run the official stdio package locally. Once installed, Lune appears
in the agent's regular tool list.

## Command line app

- [Lune CLI setup guide](https://luneresearch.com/docs/cli)
- [Official Lune CLI package on npm](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@retrograde-labs/lune-cli)
- Install: `npm install -g @retrograde-labs/lune-cli`

Use `lune install` to configure a supported local agent and `lune doctor` to
check the CLI's own setup. The CLI also handles sign-in and teams, and can
create access keys. Run research tasks through the installed MCP tools inside
the agent.

## Authentication and permissions

- [MCP connection details](https://luneresearch.com/docs/mcp#connection-details)
- [MCP authentication guide](https://luneresearch.com/auth.md)
- [Scoped permissions](https://luneresearch.com/docs/concepts/scopes)
- [OAuth authorization-server metadata](https://api.luneresearch.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server)

Compatible remote clients discover OAuth from the server URL. Clients that
can't do OAuth, and local stdio installs, use an access key the user creates in
the dashboard. Request the three scopes the MCP server advertises:
`papers:read guidance:read account:read`.

## Discovery files

- [llms.txt](https://luneresearch.com/llms.txt) explains when an agent should use Lune and lists the
  public content index.
- [auth.md](https://luneresearch.com/auth.md) gives MCP clients the complete credential flow.
- [sitemap.xml](https://luneresearch.com/sitemap.xml) lists public pages, conferences, and papers.
- [Service status](https://luneresearch.com/status) reports current reachability for the public MCP endpoint.
